Saint-Maurice-sur-Eygues lies, as the name suggests, on the (northern) banks of the Aigues (Eygues) river in the central northeast of the Côtes du Rhône wine region. For part of its length (as it does here), the river marks the boundary between the Vaucluse (to the south) and Drôme (north) administrative departments The river flows into the Rhône near Orange, some 30km (19 miles) to the southwest. Immediately to the northwest of Saint-Maurice-sur-Eygues is the commune (and fellow subregional designation) of Visan.
