Made from 40+ year old vines by a young French maker named Jean-Francois Carrel who goes by the nickname ‘Jeff,’ this red is from the south of France in the Languedoc region, which covers the Mediterranean coastal plain, west of the Rhône. A blend of mostly Grenache with Syrah and Carignan, in the same spirit as Côtes-du-Rhônes and Châteauneuf-du-Pape, we found black fruit, mineral, violet and spice aromas and flavors.
